Three Tips to Help You With Organization

Three Tips to Help You Organize Your Home

I love to organize. It’s one of those things that comes naturally to me and I enjoy doing it. Whether you like to keep things organized or not, it’s a great skill to have for running a household. Keeping your home organized makes life smoother and more orderly for everyone in your home. it can be daunting to start but once you develop a system, I can almost guarantee that you will appreciate the order and simplicity organization brings.

It’s a skill anyone can learn and with a little practice and repetition, it can become a habit that is second nature. Here are three tips for organizing any area of your home.

Clear the Space

First, take everything out of the space you are trying to organize. Starting with a clean slate can bring clarity and make the organization process smoother. Go through the stuff that was in that space and figure out what you will keep and what you won’t. Decluttering is a major part of organization and can help you to pare down what you really need to keep around and what can be tossed or donated.

Maximize the Space

Once you have sorted through your items, then evaluate the organization containers that you have. Make sure you have a place for all of the items and if needed buy more containers. Use the vertical and horizontal space to maximize the area and condense the items into tidy containers. Whether containers means shelves, bins, baskets or drawers, figure out how you want the space to look and what you are going to use to make it look that way.

Every object needs a home

When you have all the storage containers set up in the space, arrange all your items in the containers. Decide where you want your stuff to go and keep it there. Anytime you use an item, put it back where you found it. This makes it easier to know where your stuff is at all times and prevents things from getting lost, at least for the most part. If you have kids in the house, things will still likely get lost, talking from personal experience here, but at least you can make your best effort to ensure that doesn’t happen too often.
