The Endless Influence of a Godly Mother
As a mother, our sphere of influence is endless with our children.
From the time they are babies being held in our arms, to the time they leave the nest to begin their own lives; we can directly influence their lives through our prayers, words, and actions.
What we say matters.
What we do matters.
What we believe matters.
What we think matters.
No other person has as much influence over a young child like their mother.
It is to our arms they run when they are hurt or upset.
It is to our breast they receive nourishment from as a young baby.
We are the one’s who fret over fevers and lose precious hours of sleep when they’re sick.
As mothers we are the ones concerned with what they eat, what they wear, how they learn, how they feel, who their friends are, and the list goes on.
We are the ones who cook, clean, play nurse, act as counselor, teach them, train them, correct and discipline them.
We are their mothers.
We love them.
We want the best for them.
We are the first example of Jesus-like love to them, as we selflessly serve them, without expecting anything in return.
We are not perfect, and our children know us better than we know ourselves at times.
They get the best of us and we would not have it any other way.
Affecting Generations to Come
The influence of a Godly mother lives on for generations to come.
Maybe you’re thinking, “I have made too many mistakes as a mother, and now its too late for me”….but there is no need to feel this way because it is never to late to change or try harder at being a mother.
As you seek ways to improve at mothering, here are some suggestions for new and old mothers alike.
Advice for being a Godly mother:
1. Let them see you on your knees in prayer. This shows them that God is your source of strength, trust, and joy.
2. Be quick to forgive and slow to anger.
3. Don’t try to be their friend. You are their mother.
4. Pray for them. Let them know you are doing so.
5. Be humble and admit your mistakes.
6. Be persistent and consistent in parenting.
7. Love unconditionally.
Through your faith in God and by honoring His Word, godly mothers can have a great influence as they train their children.
In 2 Timothy, we learn that Timothy’s mother and grandmother directly impacted his faith. His father was a unbeliever, but because of the actions and prayers of his mother and grandmother he came to know, love, and serve the Lord.
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” 2 Timothy 1:5
Even though the Lord desires fathers to lead the family spiritually; mothers have a great sphere of influence as well in how they train up their children.
The impact of a Godly mother affect and encourage a child in their faith walk, relationship with Jesus, and affect future generations.
You have been given a holy calling as a mother and the training of your children is an honor that nobody else is equipped to do like you!
Nobody has the impact on a child the way a mother does. You hold the power in your hands and heart to rear your child up in the Lord.
Stay devoted to the Lord, your husband, and to your calling as a mother.
And, some day may all our ..” children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her….” Proverbs 31:28
