Why Our Nation Needs Prayer!

What is happening to the United States these days?

Where did all of this polictical strife, societal divisions, and lack of morals come from?

These times we live in are fraught with upheaval and friction. Differences of opinions, lifestyles, religions, and polictical systems have divided this country.

There are divisions everywhere, even between generations. Where there used to be a sense of community among people, it appears to be lacking.

Social Media is not exempt…..

Facebook is filled with extreme right and left political memes.

Twitter has become a hate-filled stomping ground for opinions of varying degrees.

The media is filled with parades of people screaming and protesting for certain ‘rights’.

There are mobs that riot in the street after their candidate is not elected for a political office.

Every group has their extremes and feel they have a right to be heard.

Off Balanced Nation

Just because a certain group or extreme speaks the loudest or is more visible in the media does not mean their views are correct nor that they represent what America truly feels. These groups have been saying how the ‘majority of Americans’ feel the same way they do; when I believe that the majority of Americans still have common sense, strong morals, and are God-fearing people.

How is it that we as an entire nation have become so off-balanced?  Why is the minority making assumptions that we have misaligned values?

And if we don’t agree with their choices or how they think America should be run, then the rest of us are considered to be a racist, bigoted, and misogynist bunch of people.

There have those that march for the rights of women to choose what they want to do with their bodies. This in turn, diminishes the value of an unborn child.

My Body, My Choice?

But yet we have those that will protect the rights of animals over a child’s life.

The ACLU has become like PETA but for humans.

The President of the United States is mocked and ridiculed.

Feminists scream loudly to be heard all the while wearing vagina costumes.

America has become a misguided and misaligned country for many when it comes to morals and values.

We still have a good share of those that actually believe what the Bible says, follow what the Bible says, and live out what the Bible says; however, they have been overshadowed by what is represented in the media.

Has the Government Gone Too Far?

What can we do to overcome these divisions?

The answer is not going to come from another government program, such as welfare or another assistance program.

The answer does not lie in more government legislation.

The answer has always come from the same source, the Bible.

Years ago when our country was founded, it was founded upon Biblical principles. What was common sense before, has now been deemed outdated, useless, and unnecessary.

The Bible is seen by many has an antiquated book that is no longer pertinent to our daily lives.

So how is this ancient book really relevent to our lives?

To our families? To this country?

The Bible is a living guide for our journey. The Bible is as still relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.

Why do we need the Bible?

1) Our souls will starve if we do not read the Word. We need these truths in our lives. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4)

2) The Bible teaches us to love and serve others well. We cannot help, love, or serve others unless we have experienced it ourselves. The depths of how we can do this actually depend on our own experiences with reading and studying the Bible.

3) We need the Bible because it keeps us closer to God. God promises to complete the work he begins in all his children. He ignites faith through the hearing of the Word of Christ, and then he sustains faith to the finish. And how is faith sustained? The primary fuel of enduring faith is the Word of Christ.

4) God’s word is sufficient for all of our needs. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 it reads “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” We Christians can be totally secure in the Lord by studying the Bible because it is God’s plan for our life.

Nation Pray

Right now the United States needs our prayers.

We need to be praying for our leaders and politicians. We need to pray that God’s will is done-not ours!

The country needs Bible-believing people on their knees praying, “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3

We need to be praying for unity in workplaces, the military, the media, schools, communities, churches, ethnicities, cities, and most importantly families.

We need to pray for the truth to be told. The truth based on the Bible.

The last thing we need to do is love one another.

The Lord has commanded us to love one another. Loving one another does not mean accepting another’s sinful lifestyle. Instead we are to be known for our love.

Its a love that goes deeper than our own flesh and blood family. It is a love that serves and is not self seeking.

It is a love that shares the Gospel, not exploits for selfish reasons.

We are to live as Jesus did. He was our living example of what we should base our own actions on. He was humble, cared for others, and sought the good of others has his own expense.

And that’s how we live together as the church in this world: we go against the grain of societal expectations, we help one another when it hurts, and we love one another to represent our King.
