“Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct.”
1 Peter 3:1-2
Marital Submission and Our Roles
Both men and women were created to fulfill different roles in marriage. This is often a touchy social topic, when it really shouldn’t be.
The Bible is our guidebook for life. It often referred to as our ‘instruction book’ and based on that we have been given an outline on what marriage is and what our roles are as women.
Despite all of the opposition for God’s true design for marriage, there is true beauty found within the boundaries of Biblical submission.
A marriage will truly flourish when following God’s design.
God’s Design for Marriage and Biblical Submission
In today’s blog post, my guest blogger, Julie, from the Turquoise Journal, teaches and encourages Christian wives what Biblical submission within marriage looks like.
“If we call Jesus our Lord and Savior, we are called to do what is commanded. This is not legalism, this is obedience. Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” – John 14:15. We cannot pick and choose what we think is acceptable or applicable in God’s Word. And don’t you think that the Creator of all things, including marriage, has a better understanding than we do of the structure of marriage and how each role works together for good? This is not punishment. It’s for our benefit.” (Julie, Turquoise Journal)
