“Loose lips sink ships”

How many times have you hear this phrase?

I have heard this my entire life growing up from my family.  Gossip was one thing not tolerated by my mother and father.

Unfortunately, that concept seem to have not sunk in until I was an adult. And I probably sunk ‘many ships’ during the course of my lips and what came out of them.

As I have matured, so has my talk and the nature of my conversations.  I have learned to guard my lips and watch what I say.  I have ruined relationships and failed friends because of not thinking before I spoke.

Ladies, let’s face it, talking is something we do a lot of.  However, talking can also cause us to sin and others to go down that same path.  Just as one would gain control over their eating habits, we must learn to gain control over our talking habits.

Ephesians 4:29, says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

*Be an encourager.

*If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

*Pray at that exact moment when you’re feeling led to speak anything that is going to be unwholesome talk.

*Read Scripture
