Living Virtuously: Chapter 18 and 19 Study Questions

Virtuously Known

“Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.” Proverbs 31:23

If our husband is not treated like a king at home, then the chances are good that he is not received as a respected husband in public.

The words and action of a wife can most certainly affect her husband’s social status or slander his good name. If our husband is to safely trust in us as his wife, he will lack nothing of value. Proverbs 31:11

Have you ever been around a woman that glorified the fact that she was married to a ‘loser’ which soon became her ‘ex-loser’?

This type of woman enjoys telling all the juicy details of her husbands life. She never says anything good nor is very respectful of her husband’s reputation.

A wife can do a lot of damage when wielding the powerful tongue.  Her words can tear him down and make him known in the city gates as a ‘loser’ but what does this prove?

Edification

If we chose to build up our husbands instead of tearing them down, consider what building them would do.

In what ways could you could build them up?

I am not speaking of inflating our husband’s egos.  Instead when we choose to love them-it can cover a multitude of sins.

What a wonderful thought!

Knowing what a powerful impact our words will have on our husbands and in our marriages if we choose to build them up with our words and actions.

*Love your husbands. Guard your heart. Pray for them.
