THE KEEPERS AT HOME SERIES
Christian homemakers and Biblical womanhood is ideal if we are born into families where it has been modeled and taught, and if we are surrounded by Titus 2 mentors in our life.
Sadly, for many that is not the case. Hence, the reason for this free series, Keepers of the Home.
To teach the younger women what our duties as keepers of our home entail.
Because our roles as the keepers of our home are so diverse and the essential calling of our life, the Keepers of the Home Series was created. As women we often need encouragement in our daily lives and the resources to go assist us.
This series covers the duties and responsibilities in our position as managers of our home, as wives and mothers, and much more. It covers the wide array of areas in which we are called to work, such as:
*Finances and frugalness
*Menu planning and food preparation
Through this series, I pray that it becomes a blessing to you in your Biblical homemaking journey.
THE MOMMY BLOGGER SERIES: KEEPERS OF THE HOME
In Proverbs 31:27, it states that “She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” As Christ followers and homemakers, we have a specific calling to manage our homes. By managing our homes we put the needs of those that live within our four walls above our own. We are serving the Lord by managing our homes. Managing our homes provides the opportunity to glorify the Lord through our actions.
At first glance, particularly if viewed through today’s common definition of homemaking, we may believe a woman’s role in the home to be limited to that of being responsible for decorating the home, making the meals, doing the laundry, caring for the cleanliness and overall condition of the home, etc. While all of these certainly play into the role of homemaking, they by no means comprise the sum total of what it means to be a Biblical homemaker. We come a little closer to a full-orbed understanding of what Biblical homemaking is when we read the Timothy passage which speaks of “managing” the house –
In our roles as keepers of the home, we need to be prepared to defeat the enemy. The enemy is out to cause defeat for all. He knows that our ministry is in our homes, so plan on being attacked. You must be prepared to fight the good fight every step of the way.
We can do that by learning to memorize Scripture.
A daily quiet time is specifically devoted to reading the Bible, prayer, and meditation. Perhaps even some time for journaling may be squeezed in. It is a personal choice to make each and every day to get up and spend time in the Word.
It is vital that homemakers spend time in the Word daily. Our ministry depends upon it. There is too much at stake, too much stands to be lost if we do not spend time with God.
When a woman becomes a stay-at-home mom she is not given a guidebook. There is no description of her duties, including how to set up a routine.
So with the busyness of life, children, husbands, school, and managing the home, how can you ensure that you get regular quality time with the Lord?
It is an honor and blessing to be a wife and mother. Being the keepers of the home provide us with the time to tend to the needs of our children and husband. Be careful of how you spend your time and what you spend your time on throughout the day.
Learn how to set a routine and follow a schedule.
Elisabeth Elliot said, “This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness.”
The importance of a homemaker being organized is essential to successfully manage the home.
We, women, are amazing, the superwomen of our homes. We are the queens of multi-tasking. We daily juggle cleaning and cooking meals while chasing toddlers around the house. But let’s face it, no matter how organized or prepared we are life still gets overwhelming
