A view into my basement, which is one my current stresses. It took a lot of courage for me to show the basement in its current state. It has been like this for going on two weeks now. I am ready for this sale to be over.

I cannot find a picture of my basement, but this is how my house typically looks.
Second view of my house.

So far my morning has consisted of a taking the children to school, grocery shopping with my littles, doing the budget, garage sale organization, a puking child, and various household chores.

This morning I also

Fought anxiety.

Became easily overwhelmed.

And needed to find that inner peace.

As I was cleaning the vomit out of the cracks in the wood floor, I began to feel a looming sense of dread.  I started thinking about all of the work that needed to be done. I knew I  needed a break. So my littles and I walked out our front door. We picked some wildflowers growing in the yard and watched bugs crawl around. I needed that break this morning, even though it was brief.

It is easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated. In those moments of being overwhelmed, wanting to achieve perfection, and get ‘er all done; I pray. I pray for strength and peace of mind.  It helps me to know that it is not supposed to all be in my control.

Today I was humbly reminded that I am not meant to carry burdens. Jesus, my friend said,  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28–30). This morning  I needed that rest.

I found this prayer for peace of mind, even though I cannot find who to give credit to. It is too beautiful not to share.

Prayer for Peace of Mind –

Heavenly Father, please grant me peace of mind and calm my troubled heart. My soul is like a turbulent sea. I can’t seem to find my balance so I stumble and worry constantly. Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose and walk the path you’ve laid out for me. I trust your Love God, and know that you will heal this stress. Just as the sun rises each day against the dark of night. Please bring me clarity with the light of God.

Morning break amidst the crazy moments in my life

  1. Thanks for sharing! I’ve been feeling that dread starting to creep up off and on this week. This is a good reminder to take a break and seek the peace that only God can bring! <3

    1. Ha ha, as much as I would love to ‘ignore’ my basement, that garage sale won’t happen by itself.
