How to Succeed in Achieving Your Goals in 5 Steps

1.  Write it down

Goals that are written down are 80% more likely to be achieved.

2.  Make it visible

Post your goals in a highly visible area to you. One where you see on a daily basis.  For example, if you are trying to lose weight post your goals on your mirror or refrigerator. Or if you are trying to save money and get out of debt, make a debt thermometer .

Use bright colors and enjoyable graphics. Anything that will draw your eyes to the visual with printed goals on it. Change them up every so often to keep them fresh in your sight.

3.   Get armed with the proper tools

Inform yourself with the tools necessary to accomplish and achieve your goals.  If you want to lose weight by walking, but don’t have a pair of tennis shoes.

It makes it difficult to get motivated to get out there and walk. Go buy yourself the proper shoes.

Books, e-courses, and equipment are great places to start looking for information, encouragement, and motivation. Do you have the goal of fitness,    losing weight,  or becoming healthy?

Armed with the right tools such as books, planners, or proper equipment will enable you to become successful at managing your goals, eventually becoming successful.

4.  Get an accountability partner

An accountability partner is somebody who will hold you accountable for the goals that you set.

You can find an accountability in real life as one of your friends, spouse, or online. There are many online groups with like-minded souls with the same goal in mind.

An accountability partner is somebody who knows your goals and will celebrate each milestone with you along the way.

An accountability can also be somebody who encourages you, prays for you, and offers advice or constructive criticism.

You are more likely not to want to let down an accountability partner by working at your goal, so you are motivated to work harder.

5.  Pray

This is probably the most important step in learning how to achieve your goals.

It is human nature to try to get everything done ourselves, however, we are limited.

We can only do so much with our own willpower, strength, and intellect.

Yet, when we trust in the Lord, surrender all to Him, and allow Him to be our guide; it is then we are able to achieve way more than on our own.

Prayer focuses all our thoughts on the Lord. While He knows our hearts, it is still important that we talk to Him and let Him know that need Him and trust Him.

When we pray, we are slowing down and listening.

With the hopes of becoming successful at a goal, the end result is growth, maturity, and insight.

We can use our goal-setting to draw us closer to the Lord, grow in our faith, and develop a deeper understanding of His word.

Before you make a goal or set out on your own to accomplish it, pray about it.

Encouraging Scripture for Goal Setting

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. ” Psalm 37:4

β€œI can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

This year can be the year that you lose weight and become healthy. Or it can be the year that you master reading the Bible in an entire year. And maybe this is the year that you are able finally to become debt free. Perhaps, this is the year that you become the best mom and wife you were meant to be. It is doable, but not on your own.  Trust in the Lord in all that you do. See that His ways are good and pure.
